The European continent stands without any doubt at an historic crossroads. Through the ‘Antwerp Declaration’, the European political party Identity and Democracy (ID Party) wants to underline the added value and superiority of the concept of national sovereignty.
The cooperation of European member states within the European Union, since Brexit, has been characterised mainly and paradoxically by a far-reaching acceleration of centralisation and by the installation of a unitary state to replace the member states. The EU seizes every crisis to stealthily reinforce and speed up this evolution. This was the case with the coronavirus crisis, and it appears to be the case with the war in Ukraine as well.
The Conference on the Future of Europe was a glorified theatrical performance, as feared by ID Party from the outset. Originally intended to compensate for the democratic deficit that resulted from the composition of the European Commission in 2019, the conference turned out to be a huge failure. A few hundred citizens were selected to participate and their meetings were manipulated and steered towards a list of proposals that is practically a copy of the most far-reaching unifying projects of the EU unitary state. For instance the fact that the migration proposals emanating from the Conference in essence mirror, and sometimes literally reproduce, those outlined in the Commission’s 2021 Migration Pact, highlights this as one of the best examples that the outcome of the Conference has been scripted and pre-determined;
This conference subsequently gave the left-liberal and green majority in the European Parliament the opportunity to call these proposals the only and irreversible way for cooperation on the European continent. These proposals thus envisage - as well as many other things - transnational lists, a European army and the abolition of the freedom of all member states. The ID Party rejects these so-called results of the Conference and remains focused only on European cooperation in which all member states and peoples retain their rights. The emphasis should be on returning power to the member states.
The European Union has also definitively embarked on the path of open warfare against its own member states under the new-speak name of ‘Rule of Law’ and the so-called 'conditionality mechanism' that withholds European funds from member states that deviate from the aforementioned unitary state strategy. Democracy at the level of European cooperation can only be based on the clear and unequivocal consent of free peoples. These peoples must be at the centre of this European cooperation and not be a side issue in a particular interpretation of abstract - mainly legal - principles.
ID Party also notes that the European Union is keeping the open borders of the continent open in an increasingly extremist manner. The European Commission's recently proposed ‘Talent Partnerships’ programme with North African countries, but also with more distant countries, reaffirms the European Union's obsession with anything that can promote mass immigration. Not only does this go against the wishes of the majority of the population, it is also completely at odds with the principle of subsidiarity. ID-party rejects any proposal to weaken a migration policy based on strict control of the external borders and denounces the presence of illegal migrants, who threaten labour conditions and foster social conflicts and strongly opposes the migration propaganda narrative aimed at convincing the public of the economic benefits of mass immigration without considering the related social and security costs.
ID Party regrets the war on the European continent that was started after the Russian Federation invaded Ukraine, a country fully entitled to its own sovereignty and territorial integrity. However, ID Party fears that this crisis too will be abused by the European Union for the expansion of its power, especially the further strengthening of its existing ideas concerning a European army as part of the centralising European Union. The European Union is also shamelessly passing on the consequences of its own failures, such as the inflation caused by the debt economy in the eurozone, to this war.
ID Party is readvocating a sharp distinction between Europe and the European Union. Increasingly, the European Union and its current strategy are the antithesis of Europe as a continent and as an historical unit of civilisation that is complementary to the national identity of the various peoples.
For these reasons, the present members of ID Party take the following 8 principles to heart today, the 23rd of June 2022.
- Does not consider itself bound in any way by the results of the so-called Conference on the Future of Europe and the centralising political agenda that resulted from it.
- Rejects the introduction of transnational lists and the standardisation of electoral laws.
- Reaffirms that European cooperation must continue on a free and voluntary basis and cannot be replaced by a so-called qualified majority.
- Rejects the ‘conditionality mechanism’ which seeks to force member states to unconditionally toe the line of the centralised European Union.
- Opposes the installation of the so-called European army.
- Rejects the way in which the European Union is further blurring Europe's borders into a management of migratory rights instead of geographical limits of the continent where its own European citizens are guarded and protected.
- Remains committed solely to European cooperation in which all member states and peoples retain their rights. The emphasis should be on the return of power to the member states.
- Calls for intense cooperation between all patriotic and/or conservative forces in view of the European elections in 2024.
